I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as a person-centred psychotherapist. I am also an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
I completed my initial training at City Lit in London, where I qualified with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I also hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Person-Centred Psychotherapy. Several years after qualifying, I completed an MSc (Distinction) in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy & Applications from Metanoia Institute.
More recently I have undertaken additional training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). These are National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended therapies, which I may integrate into my psychotherapy practice.
Reflecting my belief in the importance of early intervention and supporting parents, I have completed specialist training in parental mental illness and parental substance misuse at Anna Freud and the University of Bath. I am a trained PIPT practitioner, which is a specialist parenting intervention for parents who are finding it difficult to cope with their child’s experiences and behaviours.
As part of my continuing professional development and in keeping with my professional code of ethics, I participate in conferences, trainings and research every year, alongside being supervised by a senior UKCP psychotherapist. I also support the teaching on the MSc in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy & Application at Metanoia Institute.
I have been practicing as a therapist for over 13 years, providing counselling and psychotherapy for adults, children and adolescents in a wide range of settings, including the NHS, schools, charities, specialist services and private practice.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a Consultant Psychotherapist in the NHS, where I work in acute mental health services supporting adults in crisis and acute distress, including those requiring mental health care in hospital. I am also employed as an associate psychotherapist for a national centre of specialist expertise in the care and recovery of survivors of organised abuse.
Prior to these roles, I trained and worked for several leading children’s mental health charities. I am an experienced school counsellor and have worked in primary and secondary schools across London providing therapy for children and young people aged 5-18 years, as well as parents and carers. I have also trained and worked as a counsellor for Childline.
Before training to become a psychotherapist and counsellor, I worked for over ten years in the fashion industry. I hold a BA (Hons) in English Literature, and consequently have a keen interest in the concepts of story-telling and narrative within psychotherapy.
