Psychotherapy and counselling for adults, children and young people
Welcome and thank you for visiting Natalie Hawkins Psychotherapy & Counselling. I am an experienced and fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I provide counselling and psychotherapy for adults, children and adolescents online and in person in Maldon, Essex.
Most of us encounter difficulties at points in our lives, and it is understandable that we might find ourselves struggling to cope with our feelings and experiences. Psychotherapy and counselling provide a safe and confidential space where issues from the past and present that are causing distress can be explored and better understood. Understanding who we are and our relationships with others can offer relief from emotional distress and suffering, enabling wellbeing and positive change.
People come to me for help with a wide range of issues and I am experienced in working with:
Depression
Anxiety, stress, and burnout
Relationship difficulties
Adverse childhood experiences
One-off traumatic events
Complex trauma
Harmful behaviours, including self-harm and addiction
Loss and bereavement
Issues related to parenthood and parenting
Neurodiversity
LGBTQIA lived experiences
Mental health diagnoses, including dissociative disorders, bipolar disorder, personality difficulties and psychotic experiences
Bullying
Anxiety
School avoidance
Exam pressure and stress
Neurodiversity
Self-harm
Parental separation
My work is not limited to these issues and challenges, and I strongly believe that each of us is unique and brings with us our own individual life experiences. I aim to honour this by tailoring my approach and way of working to meet the individual needs of my clients.
I am committed to ensuring that my practice is accessible, affirming, and culturally sensitive. I feel strongly that therapy should be inclusive, and I aim to work with difference respectfully and in an empowering way.
Sessions are weekly and last 50 minutes. Initial sessions last approx. 75 minutes. Please contact me to discuss my fees.
I offer a limited amount of reduced fee sessions to counselling and psychotherapy trainees, healthcare professionals and those on lower incomes. Please do feel free to ask if I have any availability.
I require 48 hours’ notice for cancellation. Missed sessions without 48 hours’ notice will be charged at the full fee. Fees are to be paid weekly in cash or by bank transfer.
I am aware that seeking therapy and choosing a therapist can feel like a daunting task, so I am always happy to answer any questions you may have. I offer a free and confidential 15-minute Zoom consultation to answer any questions and to talk through how therapy might be helpful for you and how we might work together.
Psychotherapy and counselling are currently not statutory regulated professions, meaning that any person can legally provide counselling and psychotherapy and use these professional titles. By working with a therapist who is registered with a regulatory body (eg. UKCP, BACP, NCPS, BPC), you can be assured that they have undertaken appropriate training and are full qualified.
I work from private and comfortable rooms in the heart of Maldon, conveniently located for the surrounding areas of Heybridge, Great Totham, Wickham Bishops and Witham. There is ample parking just a minute’s walk away.
In addition to providing face-to-face psychotherapy and counselling, I also work online via Zoom.
I have undertaken specialist training in online therapy.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions or to arrange an initial appointment.
All enquiries are usually answered within 24 hours and all contact is strictly confidential.
